Location

Wakestock is split over three sites on the stunning Llyn Peninsula in North West Wales. The main festival site is at Pen y Berth which is located between Abersoch and Pwllheli. The site overlooks Cardigan Bay and the mountains of Snowdonia, and the village of Llanbedrog which has a sandy beach is within walking distance. If you come to the festival and fancy going to the beach then please follow the signs from the site and don’t cut across the fields as there are deep ditches and high fences which are impassible, along with lots of livestock in the fields. Llanbedrog also has a couple of pubs, a Londis shop and a garage so you can stock up on any essentials that you may have forgotten to pack within walking distance of the site.

The Llyn has some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK, with the mountains of Snowdonia to the West and stunning beaches along the coastline. The main wakeboarding competition takes place in the market town of Pwllheli at the impressive marina. Pwllheli has two sandy beaches Glan y Don and South Beach, a wide variety of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants and getting there from the festival site couldn’t be easier. We run a shuttle bus service all weekend between all three sites – a shuttle bus ticket costs £7 per person and gets you unlimited access to the service so you can use it as much as you like.

The shuttle buses also run all weekend to the village of Abersoch which is where the Big Air Competition takes place on the main beach. Abersoch lies on the Southwestern tip of the Peninsula and it’s bays are sheltered by the Tudwals Islands which make it’s waters ideal for watersports. There’s loads of great shopping at the surf shops and boutiques in Abersoch, as well as a number of pubs, restaurants and cafes, just use the shuttle bus to get there and back from the festival site.

If you fancy having a go at wakeboarding then there are a couple of places you should check out in  the local area GLASFRYN WAKEPARC is about 8 miles from the festival site at Penrhos. Glasfryn is the perfect place for festival goers to try their hand at wakeboarding. Glasfryn Wake Parc uses two System 2.0 Wakeboard Cables to tow riders up and down their purpose built lakes. One of the System 2.0’s is designed for beginners and runs at a shorter length of 100m and is 10m high meaning the beginners get a great upward pull. You cannot fail to learn to wakeboard using this setup!

For the more advanced riders there are 5 obstacles on the lakes – brand new wall rides, the Relentless Leviathan, a kicker and a flat bar. Combined with ollie barrels and the ability to learn air tricks very easily, Glasfryn Wake Parc is truly a venue for every standard of wakeboarder from first timer, to seasoned pro.

The venue at Glasfryn Wake Parc is stunning and set on the picturesque Llyn Peninsula, the lakes are surrounded by tall trees meaning no matter how windy it is the lake is always perfectly calm. The clean water is fed by streams coming straight down from the mountains and the site boasts great facilities including changing rooms, showers, club house, licensed bar, cafe and much more. There are also many other activities like go karts, quad bikes and ten pin bowling so you can really make a day of it.

There is also Off Axis wakeboard school who run a boat out of Pwllheli Marina and offer wakeboard instruction. There are a number of surf schools in the area as well – for more information we recommend checking out www.abersoch.co.uk which has information on loads of activities and more information on the local area.
