Camp G will have its own toilets, security and CCTV coverage. Plus we’ll be offering a brand new pampering area which all girls will be able to access but which will be available at a discounted rate for Camp G wristband holders. This will be the place to get your festival glam on in style and plug in those all important hair straighteners!

Anyone camping in Camp G will also be able to use all of the facilities in the main campsite as well. Please note that if you decide you would like to camp in Camp G, you will not be able to camp in the main campsite. This is to make sure we can plan the campsites effectively. You will be able to visit friends and use the facilities but will not be permitted to pitch a tent.

HADOUKEN! are back with their brand new single, “Mecha Love”, a sleek melodic powerhouse and a mouth-watering taster for their third album. The band’s second album, ‘For The Masses’, reached the top 20 in 2010 and Hadouken rightfully earned a reputation as a live act not to be missed. Now in the final stages of recording Hadouken are ready to destroy the UK once more with a devastating new live show set for headline tours and festival appearances in 2012 including Wakestock.

YASHIN are currently writing album number two after releasing their debut album last year. Yashin were selected by Daniel P Carter’s BBC Radio 1 Rock show for Unsigned Song of the week and also Yashin’s most recent single ‘Stand Up’ was featured as video of the week on Kerrang TV. Hailed as one of the UK’s best upcoming live alternative bands, catch them at Wakestock this year.

Also joining the bill are DELTA HEAVY, a duo who have proven their drum & bass metal worth with a succession of heavy-hitting original tracks. Their next release set to surface at the end of May is ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’, is a 6 track EP of totally original material. Hotly tipped by a host of tastemakers and DJs, Delta Heavy are two guys who won’t be disappearing from your wave lengths any time soon.

After a year when guitars all but vanished from British primetime radio, there’s a need for a band with the brains, brawn and balls to take 2012 and smash it into a brave new frontier of indie rock ‘n’ roll. ALL THE YOUNG might just do the job! The last six months has seen this Stoke-on-Trent quartet grow into the potential ‘saviour’ of British rock and roll. Their debut album Welcome Home charted last weekend and is packed with indie anthems in waiting.

SWISS LIPS bridge the gap between dance, pop and electro with masses of skill and style. Hailing from Manchester, this five-piece band blast out the kind of music that Wakestock fans will love. Already tipped by the likes of Radio 1 be sure to see what all the fuss is about. They created a buzz at the end of 2011 with their video for ‘U GOT THE POWER’ and we’re sure you’ll agree they’re one of the most exciting new bands of 2012.

Musician Dan Smith has spent the last year writing and recording tracks under the name BASTILLE. The homemade video for “Flaws” caught the attention of bloggers at the start of 2011 and racked up over 25,000 hits on You Tube. New single Icarus is a great example of BASTILLE’s ability to produce timeless pop songs with instantly recognisable hooks. Watch this space for a follow up EP, but in the meantime catch him at Wakestock.

With her emotive 21st Century soul sound LULU JAMES is making waves across the world. She is a name to remember. With her first EP “Rope Mirage” out on April 30th this girl is set for superstardom and is one to catch on this year’s bill. Joining her is JAGGA who is currently working with names such as Ant Whiting (MIA), David Kosten (Bat For Lashes) and Dan Carey (Santigold),. In the last 18 months he’s done everything from touring with Katy B, to recording in LA with Odd Future producer Matt Martian. Jagga stands out from a crowd of eager-to-please X Factor pop stars. Check him this year!

Welsh duo LILYGREEN AND MAGUIRE are another great addition to the line up. The duo, from Newport, South Wales, have just released their debut single ‘Come On Get Higher’. The pair have already built up a solid fan-base after supporting Olly Murs in his recent arena tour of the UK and Ireland, and will be opening the West stage at the this year’s festival.

Over the last couple of years this man has become a bone fide superstar and is sure to create a night of mayhem to get the party started at this year’s festival. STRAIGHT LINES hail from South Wales. Having spent a large chunk of 2011 in the studio recording their second album ‘Freaks Like Us’ between support slots with The Subways and Funeral For A Friend , Straight Lines are on an upward spiral that doesn’t look set to finish anytime soon. With new video/single ‘Half Gone’ out now and an album to follow this week, this band is heading for great things in 2012.

Back in August 2011, a new artist emerged on the scene with a remix of Amy Winehouse which attracted loads of attention and was rumoured to be the work of James Blake (one hell of a compliment). In actual fact the remixer is IFAN DAFYDD and he’s just been added to our line up. With the release of “No Good / Miranda” on Push & Run, Ifan Dafydd firmly set himself in the UK dance scene. His follow up of “Treehouse / To Me” dropped in January and is something a little different, but equally as impressive as his debut.

AL LEWIS is a singer-songwriter from North Wales whose sound is reminiscent of the classic singer-songwriters of the 70s, delivered with a modern twist. Al released the album ‘In the Wake’ at the start of 2011 and has been gathering support and praise from  the likes of Steve Lamacq and Bob Harris.  He is also a favourite of Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2. Al performed a 12 date UK tour and was shortlisted for the inaugural Welsh Music Prize. He will return to Wakestock after first appearing back in 2008.

Joining him are SEN SEGUR, a young psychedelic pop rock band from Penmachno, Wales who perform mainly in the Welsh language. They have a new EP, ‘Penrhydd’, with four tracks of great progressive tunes. With an average age of just 17, Sen Segur are but seedlings amongst the flowers of the Welsh music scene and are ones to watch at this year’s Wakestock.

Another great act on the bill are Y BANDANA, a Welsh language alternative rock band that formed in Caernarfon in 2008. They are known for combining humorous lyrics with catchy melodies. Their highly energetic, half naked sets are a magnet for young crowds from Caernarfon down to Cardiff. The band released their debut album last year and have achieved great success in the Welsh language rock scene. Check them out this year.

If you are in a band and fancy playing at this year’s festival, this week sees the launch of the Wakestock Battle of the Bands competition. We have been inundated with applications by bands wanting to play at this year’s festival who were clearly attracted by the incredible line up.  Sadly we just can’t accommodate them all. However, there is still one slot free on this year’s bill and we want to fill it with the hottest new Welsh talent. Your band could take to the stage alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Dizzee Rascal.

So if you think you have got what it takes to open the stage at Wakestock, all you need to do is send your application through to info@wakestock.co.uk. It should include a short biography of the band, links so we can listen to some of your songs and some information about the gigs you have already played as a band. The team at Wakestock HQ will then prepare a short list of finalists and the final decision will be down to Radio Cymru DJ Lisa Gwilym. Lisa hosts her own flagship music show every weekday evening on BBC Radio Cymru. She’s a true champion of new music and has been a BBC Radio Cymru presenter since 2003, having always taken a keen interest in Welsh music talent. Lisa will be judging a shortlist of ten bands from the entries we receive and we are thrilled she will be selecting the winner of our Battle of the Bands Competition.

The winning band will open the East Stage at the festival on Sunday 8th July.  This is a fantastic opportunity if you are an unsigned act trying to get a break in what is a hugely competitive industry.  We look forward to hearing from you and pob lwc // good luck!

This time round we have the mighty Simplex stepping up. Nimbla, JDP and Cato put together a live set recorded on three turntables that will guarantee to destroy any dancefloor. Simplex have played across the spectrum of both genres and venues, carving out a reputation for their huge sets. As well as Cato being part of the Sin City Crew.

The pool gap on the festival site will again host the WWA Rail Europeans and we will crown the WWA European Rail Champion on Sunday evening! Last year Mitch Langfield took the title with British riders CK Koester and Marc Rossiter just behind him. The event has grown massively over the years and we have seen the pool gap take on more and more importance each year. In 2011 the prize money was split equally across the boat comp and the pool gap.

We have some of the sports biggest international riders heading over to Abersoch this year including World Champions Dean Smith and Nick Davies! The pool gap will see some of the best rail riding talent in the world with Wake The Line champion Nico Von Lerchenfeld heading over from Germany, Transworld Rail Rider of the Year Mr Marc Rossiter, a bunch of the Projects crew including Nate Perry and Brian Reeder, plus Wakestock regulars Shawn Watson, Mitch Langfield, Scotty Broome and many more. The boat competition will see Aaron Rathy, Shawn Watson, Adam Errington, Daniel Powers, Chris Oshea, Dylan Miller and other foreign riders battle against the UK’s top riders for the prize money and bragging rights. The ladies division is also looking very strong with Nicola Butler and Amber Wing both heading over.

Due to the large number of international riders attending and how popular the event has become, we are pleased to announce 4 qualifier events for Wakestock 2012. Due to the tide the boat contest is normally invite only and limited to a handful of riders. Every year we have way more riders want to enter than we can accommodate and this is why the qualifier comps have been created. We have joined forces with some of the best wake events around the UK and given them wildcard entries to Wakestock. We are pleased to announce we have teamed up the AOD tour at LDB Wake School and the Quays and Loch-Stock in Scotland who will all have wildcard slots for the boat comp up for grabs, and our local riding spot Glasfryn Wake Parc which will be hosting the WWA Rail Europeans Qualifier.

‘Fit to Spit’ – Anthony Nolan’s latest campaign – aims to encourage every young man who is fit to spit to join the Anthony Nolan register (which they do by proving a small saliva sample). The charity is particularly trying to recruit young men aged 18-30 as they are most likely to be chosen as matches for patients who need a lifesaving transplant, but are currently under-represented on the register.
Charlotte Connolly, Regional Recruitment Manager at Anthony Nolan, said: ‘We’re confident we’ll beat last year’s record, which saw 300 people sign up to be potential lifesavers. Wakestock is a great opportunity for us to raise the profile of Anthony Nolan and talk to young people about the importance of joining the register, and we are thrilled to be returning this year to give even more people the chance to sign up.’

Joining the Anthony Nolan stem cell register is a simple process. Donors fill in a short medical questionnaire and then provide a saliva sample via one of Anthony Nolan’s ‘spit kits’, which is sent to labs for tissue typing. Once the sample has been processed, the donor is added to the register as a potential match for someone with blood cancer who needs a lifesaving transplant.

There is a great need for donors as every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer, such as leukaemia. There are nearly 1,600 people in the UK in need of a blood stem cell transplant. This is usually their last chance of survival. 70% of patients will not find a matching donor from within their families. Anthony Nolan provide two potentially lifesaving transplants every day, but for every patient they help, there is another who sadly they can’t because no match can be found. If you spot these guys at Wakestock this year, you should consider getting involved!

Jimi Needles is a DJ and Turntablist from London, UK. Hailed as a ‘bootlegger extraordinaire’ on the blogosphere, he has quickly built a reputation as a live mashup artist, scratch DJ and party rocker!

With a crazy combo of scratch techniques, DIY bootlegs, funky beats and multi-genre bass music, he is now starting to carve out his own distinguishable sound on the festival circuit, having already played Wessex Festival, Good Weekend, Jazz:Re:Found (Milan) and many others last year we can’t wait to welcome Jimi to the stage at Wakestock.

This mix brings everything we love about Jimi Needles, swinging party hip-hop, jump up D&B and face melting basslines. Love it!
