Big beat electro legends Groove Armada will be bringing their full live
set to Wakestock this year. After more than 10 years in the business
the band have earned themselves the reputation of one of the most
exciting live acts in the world. With their huge back catalogue their
festival set is sure to go down a storm and they will be headlining on Friday night! www.myspace.com/groovearmada Originally
from London, but now relocated to New York, Estelle is the name on
everyone’s lips since signing to John Legend’s record label Homeschool
and soaring to the top of the charts with her first single from her new
album Shine. Her single American Boy, a collaboration with Kanye West, stayed at the top spot for a month in March 2008. The
west Londoner, who blazed briefly in the British charts in 2004 with
the singles 1980 and Free, and her debut album, The 18th Day, is back
and working with some of the biggest names in the music industry
including the likes of Will.I.Am, Wyclef Jean, Mark Ronson, Cee-Lo,
Swizz Beatz, and John Legend. In April 2008 Estelle announced a
short UK tour, calling at the Manchester, Glasgow Birmingham and
London’s Shepherds Bush Empire. She will then make the trip to
Wakestock Blenheim to set the stage alight for one night only. We can’t
wait. www.myspace.com/estelleonline
South Walian band Funeral for a Friend have become nothing less than a
phenomenon. Having scored three top 20 singles, a gold-certified debut
album, headlined the second stage at the Reading / Leeds format and won
Kerrangs Best Newcomer Award. The band are currently busy recording
their new album but will be taking time out to perform at Wakestock
this year on Saturday night. www.myspace.com/funeralforafriend
Northern
band The Futureheads will also be making an appearance this year. Live,
the band kicks a mean punch with their raucous and fast paced delivery
and crowd participation. Having embarked on numerous headline tours the
band have also supported the likes of Oasis, Pixies and Foo Fighters.
These guys single “Hounds of Love” became a cult festival chant
throughout 2006 and they really know how to work the crowd into a
frenzy. Look out for their great single "The Beginning of the Twist"
which was Zane Lowe’s Record of the Week on Radio 1. THE FUTUREHEADS
will undoubtedly use their Sunday night Wakestock performance to showcase their new
album ‘This Is Not The World’, set for release in May, you don’t want
to miss it!www.myspace.com/thefutureheads.
Aussie
drum and bass act Pendulum have relocated to the UK from their hometown
of Perth. They have been busy in the studio over the last twelve months
producing their new album “In Silico” and refining their electronic
rock sound. With their new single “Propane Nightmares” receiving heavy
support from Radio 1, this group are creating a real stir. They say
about themselves “we spend nearly every waking moment trying to create
music that takes you out of this universe - for ourselves and anyone
else who wants to listen.” They are sure to be hugely popular with the
Wakestock crowds this year on Friday night.
With
three hit singles under their belt and fourth single ‘Still Figuring
Out’ released this year, York quintet Elliot Minor have quietly
infiltrated the charts and are poised to crash into the mainstream in a
major fashion. Recently praised by Kerrang!, the band have already
charted with their debut ‘Parallel Worlds’ and the Top 20 follow-up
‘Jessica’ and the latest hit “The White One is Evil’. Having played to
a 10,000 capacity festival crowd at Download’s Dimebag Darrell Stage.
‘Still Figuring Out’ can currently be heard on Radio 1, Kerrang and
Virgin Extreme and can be seen on Kerrang, MTV, The Box and The Hits.
It’s evident that Elliot Minor are Britain’s biggest best kept secret. Like
Alex, the other four members of Elliot Minor are also from classically
trained backgrounds. The band’s roots were cemented when Ed Minton,
then the only NOFX and Drive Thru Records fan at his music school,
introduced his friend Alex, then obsessed with classical music and
playing the organ, to the world of rock and riffs. This is where it all
began for the band, from classical training to world of rock…Elliot
Minor are not to be missed. www.myspace.com/elliotminor
After releasing their 12-track mix-tape "Not Here To Please You" on
November 12, 2007 featuring originals and remixes, the band have been
in the studio working on their untitled debut album which is to feature
nine new songs as well as the single "Liquid Lives". The band's name
comes from a special move - a throwing fireball attack called "the
Hadouken" - in the video game "Street Fighter." www.myspace.com/hadoukenuk
Emerging
from the nascent Nu Skool Breaks scene at the end of the last century,
the Plump DJs are the quintessential production duo. Over the course of
fifteen acclaimed singles and three superlative albums, Andy Gardner
and Lee Rous have become heavyweights of cutting edge club music. In
the beginning Andy was enjoying success as a producer on Freskanova
Records working under the pseudonyms of Bowser and Cut & Paste when
he began DJing regularly at the infamous Passenger night. The Plumps
were born when the two friends who partied together decided to put
their energy into their own music. www.myspace.com/plumpdjs
The
Black Kids have risen from obscurity to become one of the most
talked-about bands around. Word has spread like wildfire across the
internet about a new band on the scene and with the release of their
new single "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You"
as a download and on pink vinyl last week, the Black Kids are the ones
to watch in 2008. Likened to The Cure but with grand electro rhythms
and disco beats, they are currently touring the UK and will play the
Sunday night at Wakestock Blenheim. www.myspace.com/blackkidsrock
Lightspeed
Champion is the name of the new musical venture by ex-Test Icicle
Devonte Hynes, currently signed to Domino Records. Containing musical
elements from a variety of genres, Lightspeed Champion is a radically
different sound to Hynes' previous band. The band's name comes from a
series of comic strips Hynes did as a teenager in his school maths
books. In summer 2007 the band supported both Bright Eyes and Final
Fantasy on tour, before launching a headline tour of their own in
September/October. In fall 2007, Hynes performed solo in support of
Patrick Wolf and Good Shoes on their UK tour. The full band played a
headline tour of the U.K in early 2008
 Josh,
33, has been making music with computers since the mid 80's. His
signature production style involves sculpting sound into musical
textures, taking listeners on a journey. In the dance music world, Josh
is known for his debut progressive track, "Wave3," and his Gabriel
& Dresden remix collaborations for New Order, DJ Tiesto, Way Out
West, Rodger Goode, 4 Strings, Paul Oakenfold and Beber&Tamara.

at Warner Brother's Films, Sony Music, and Disney Studios!

Norman Jay is an innovative and pioneering British DJ. He first came
to prominence playing unlicensed or 'warehouse' parties in the early
1980s. Norman has an ongoing radio show on regional station BBC London,
and present’s his Funk Factory series on BBC Radio 2, which goes out
every 6 weeks of the year. He is arguably one of the finest and most
respected DJ’s in the world today whose talents and many years of
dedicated service to his profession have now seen him rightfully
acknowledged by the highest authority in the land, when he was awarded
his MBE for services in music. Norman describes himself as a house
music DJ but the Good Times concept includes classic 70s and 80s funk,
soul and Jazz-funk. He is a regular at Wakestock where he has played
for the past couple of years with his sets always going down a storm. www.normanjay.com
 That
is Sam Hall a blonde-haired vixen and rock n roll talent-spotter de
jour. Her year old, monthly self-titled club night at the Elbow Room,
Islington said it all. A great success; Sam's ultimate Electro-Rock N
Roll Disco has showcased a combination of established live acts, guest
DJs, and hotly-tipped newcomers. Rather than be constrained to the
limitations of one location, Sam is now invading venues all over London
and the UK, hosting events as varied as her music collection from vast,
overwhelming club-nights, to intense exclusive showcases, kooky
one-offs and afterparty/private luxury soirees. Sam's extended
activities stretch to DJ'ing at parties and aftershows all over the
land - at some point in time, Sam's probably hijacked your fave indie
haunt, such as the Reading Festival.
FRIENDLY FIRES
Formed out of the ashes of the St Albans hardcore band they formed
while still at school, Friendly Fires make razor-sharp post-punk that
burns through the memories of all the dismal, skinny jeaned ‘80s
revivalists you’ve been hearing these past few years. Sounding brittle,
knotty and urgent, Friendly Fires are the real deal. With no fat or
padding on them at all, their songs possess an elegant sparseness. As
guitarist Edd Gibson notes: “The hardest thing I think is to know what
to leave out, to know when something is enough.” But amongst all the
stripped-back twists, there are also moments full of deep, blessed-out
melodies. “I love lush, massive, tingly chords; the My Bloody Valentine
sound,” says bassist and singer Ed MacFarlane. With the single done and an album in the works, expect to see Friendly
Fires play out live in and around the UK regularly in the next few
months, travelling to both Wakestock Blenheim and Wakestock Abersoch.
When they do, expect to dance www.myspace.com/friendlyfires
METRONOMY
Joseph Mount writes music as Metronomy. Oscar Cash, Joseph Mount and
Gabriel Slebbing perform his music live and still call themselves
Metronomy. Their second album is on the way soon. He is also a much
sought after remixer having remixed for Infadels, Roots Manuva, Franz
Ferdinand, Klazons, The Young Knvies, Kate Nash and Gorillaz.
Metronomy’s live shows are known for their charming dance routines and
live shows, most notably for the use of push lights stuck to their
chests.
PART TIME HEROS
The
Part Time Heroes are two undisclosed young musicians.. Both heroes have
a deep history in a variety of genres, sharing influences from Miles
Davis to Bob Marley to The Clash. Having held their music down, working
away juggling day jobs, they've manage to contribute music to an recent
MTV advert Continuing to build on their success & fan-base over
recent months they have dj’d across the UK & Europe & rocked
the main stage LIVE at the Big Chill Festival (w/ string quartet
assistance). The dynamite duo also release 'slightly more dance floor
aimed music' under their 'PTH Projects' alias and are perfect for the
Brouhaha Beach Arena.
IN CASE OF FIRE
In
Case of Fire are a progressive rock band that formed in Northern
Ireland in 2005. Since then they have toured and played with bands such
as Fightstar, Biffy Clyro, Enter Shikari, 30 Seconds to Mars and Queens
of the Stone Age. The Northern Irish trio have had pretty much every
major label scrambling to sign them, and the hype looks set to be
justified when their debut album Align The Planets is released in May.
In early 2008 Kerrang! Magazine gave them a 5 out of 5 review, they are
also were ranked number one on MTV’S Spanking new for 2008. In Case of
Fires sound has been compared to many bands other the past few months,
the most common being Queens of the Stone Age, The Mars Volta, Muse and
30 Seconds to Mars. Wakestock will love them
MATT COSTA
Former
skateboard pro Matt Costa signed to surfer Jack Johnson’s label on the
strengths of some very workman-like pop songs and a smooth, appealing
voice. A gifted multi instrumentalist Costa is also an ex-professional
skateboarder who turned to music full-time after a serious accident
left him laid out for 18 months. He re-presents his life in a mixture
of words and melody, and the seeming effortlessness with which he
performs leaves one wondering why song writing isn't a more common form
of communication. Matt Costa's skill with a guitar is immediately
apparent, especially in a live setting.
ESSER
Formerly
the drummer with Ladyfuzz, Esser has emerged from the ashes to produce
electro-acoustic pop. With the aide of a computer and crucial key of E,
Esser has created melodies for eccentrics at trendy indie discos. His
woeful tales of troubled times with women are delivered with superb
cockneyed comedic effect in the likes of ‘Headlock’ while songs like
‘Satisfied’ take on an techno Turkish tango feel. His new single I Love
You has been really well received and he is sure to go down well with
the crowds this year.
REEMER Reemer
are a 4 piece young Manchester band who have been playing together for
2+ years. Summer 2007 saw Reemer headline some of the UKs best all ages
Rock nights across the UK. A fantastic local live following continues
to grow and the Band are now really keen to see what the gig goers
further afield make of them. Great local promoters have meant support
slots with Elliot Minor, Whisky Cart, Koopa and Fast Reaction, as well
as selling out Academy 2 Manchester for their own show.
DAN GREENPEACE Dan
Greenpeace is the main man behind the cutting edge All City Hip-Hop
Show on XFM which has become a must-drop in for the hip hop cognoscenti
from superstars such as Eminem to underground luminaries like Dilated
Peoples. Dan is also a well established club DJ. As the name would
suggest he has a mellow, peace loving temperament to go along with his
sharp business acumen!
HYPER Just
25 years old and already making major waves worldwide, UK based DJ
Hyper (Guy Hatfield) is one of the hardest working producers/ DJ on the
global breaks scene. From his introduction to the world, through his
Y3K compilation albums, to his highly acclaimed Bedrock Breaks set and
countless DJing appearances, Hyper has burst upon the scene with a
ferocity and drive not often seen. Hyper has produced in the last ten
years many records under different recordlabels. He has played in every
big club all over the world. His style can be described as progressive
breakbeat, so very uptempo just like his name. Watch out Wakestock!
JAGUAR SKILLS After
honing his DJ skills playing parties in East London’s coolest
underground clubs and bars, Jaguar Skills developed his own brand of
party music. Mixing Hip-Hop, Dance, Dub, Disco, Ragga and Rock with his
own productions and remixes, Jaguar Skills quickly made a name for
himself, smashing party after party. On the production side he has
currently produced tracks with Lupe Fiasco, Sway, The Beatnuts and
Mattafix – while his remixes have been the prize passion of any DJ who
owns them. Now armed with a huge bag of remixes and special Dubs,
Jaguar Skills brings a style that’s like no other – seamlessly fusing a
huge array of different musical styles.
RADIO LUXEMBURG From
Wild West Wales's seaside town of Aberystwyth come the psychedelic pop
outfit Radio Luxembourg — a five-piece band of oddballs steeped in the
tradition of 90's Welsh bands, following in the footsteps of Gorkys
Zygotic Mynci, SFA and Murry The Hump. Their reputation for being an
exciting live band along with their catchy tunes are generating a lot
of buzz throughout Wales, winning them much media acclaim. The band
have regular radio play and television appearances, and are set to do
much more studio work and also gigging on a larger scale. With a
fast-growing fan base the boys are set to cut through, so be sure to
grab your earplugs and your 3D glasses.
LITTLE FISH Little
Fish, a rock duo from Oxford, is the work of singer songwriter Juju
(electric/acoustic guitar/vocals) and Nez (percussion). The sound of
Little Fish is stripped back, direct and defiantly punky in spirit, but
also melodic and true to the song. The song lyrics are often poetic,
reflective and brutally honest. With shades of PJ Harvey, Juju's vocals
can range from aggressive and powerful, to a bluesy Janis Joplin. On
other tracks Juju's voice haunts and mesmerises, but with the
conviction of the spirit of Patti Smith. Nez's drums power the songs
with upbeat, imaginative and vicious rhythms that combine with Juju's
cutting guitar strokes and arresting vocals.

The Streets have been together for 7 years now and in that time have
released three albums, with the fourth on the way soon. “Original
Pirate Material” was their first album which propelled them into the
limelight, and was followed in 2004 by number one album “A Grand Don’t
Come For Free” from which the number one single “Dry Your Eyes” was
released. Their third album “The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living”
was released in 2006. Front man Mike Skinners live show have made The
Streets an unmissable festival act and they will be headlining the Sunday night at Blenheim! www.myspace.com/thestreets
Supergrass are one of the biggest rock bands to come out of Oxford.
After the successes of three platinum selling albums, 'I Should Coco'
in 1995, 'In It For The Money' in 1997, and 'Supergrass' (aka 'The
X-ray Album') in 1999, Supergrass have recently released their fourth
album 'Life On Other Planets'. Supergrass rose to prominence in the
Britpop era and are still one of Britains best loved acts. Their new
album “Diamond Hoo Ha” will be released on March 24th with new single
“Bad Blood” released the week before on March 17th. You can catch them on Sunday night at Blenheim Palace. www.myspace.com/supergrass
The
legendary Happy Mondays rose to fame in the 80’s within the Manchester
rave scene, releasing classic albums such as Pills, Thrills and
Bellyaches, including huge hits like Kinky Afro and Step On. They have
reformed and are back and receiving critical acclaim with their album
Uncle Dysfunktion. This time, their comeback is partially down to Damon
Albarn. The success of Dare, the Gorillaz single with vocals by Mondays
frontman and lyricist Shaun Ryder, put the band back in the studio.
Some may dismiss this as a money comeback but Uncle Dysfunktional marks
the return of Shaun Ryder's psychedelic gangster lyricism, a totally
unique voice that's been missed from the music landscape. There recent
comeback is a huge amount of fun and a reminder that it's great that
the Happy Mondays have never completely disappeared, and can always
re-ignite the nostalgia of the Madchester glory days. For the legions
of loyal followers of Shaun and co, it will definitely satisfy. The
Mondays' have never taken themselves or the music too seriously and now
that they're older thankfully that hasn't changed. Wakestock are sure
to love them! www.myspace.com/happymondaysmusic
Calvin
Harris is one of those ‘myspace sensations’ you keep reading about. A
cult producer-slash-singer-slash-bedroom-knob-twiddler who can make the
banging-est of pop-dance tunes out of bugger-all kit. Calvin Harris’s
first release ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ was hugely popular on dance
floors around the country and he says that he produces tunes “just to
get you dancing.” Calvin Harris should make the Wakestock crowd go off on Saturday night! www.myspace.com/calvinharristv

Britain’s
best loved dance DJ Pete Tong doesn't need an award to prove his
popularity and he won't act cool to keep his credibility. The host of
Radio 1's groundbreaking Essential Selection show for a staggering
eight years, he works within the mainstream, but is respected by the
underground. Pete's Radio 1 show "The Essential Selection" is now the
most listened to radio show on the internet attracting a global
audience of over 12 million, so we know that he is going to go down
well with the Wakestock crowds!
Audio Bullys are an electronic music group from the UK - Simon Franks and Tom Dinsdale. They reached number 3 in the UK Singles Chart with their amazing 2005
hit, "Shot You Down", which samples the Nancy Sinatra version of the
song "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)". The song was also featured on
the 2005 CBS telecast of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show headlined
by Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell. The group worked with Suggs of
Madness collaborating on the track "This Road" taken from Generation.

This English geek rock and post-punk revival band are from
Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. The name is based on a
misunderstanding of "young knaves", which was found by the band by
rummaging through a book. The band is known for its energetic live performances and their taste
in tweed outfits. They broke into the music industry in 2002 with the
critical success of their debut mini-album The Young Knives... Are
Dead, but began to garner national coverage upon the release of their
single "The Decision" in late 2005 (partially due to the acclaim of its
dark humoured, League of Gentlemen-esque video). They played their
biggest live gig in June 2006 and recently completed a UK tour in
support of their first proper album Voices of Animals and Men, which
reached #21 in the UK Album Charts. In July 2007 they were nominated
for the Nationwide Mercury Prize. www.myspace.com/theyoungknives

eclectic and when it comes to pleasing the dance floor, he will play
anything that will move the crowd. Brandon has released three hugely
successful compilation albums for 'Fantazia' the first ever club

Jones is a Hammersmith-born, Kingston-raised 25-year-old MC who has
just signed to a major label on the basis of a dazzling ragga flow, an
ability to write pop smart hooks and a facility with rhyme that is
second to none. With a musical style that owes as much to Massive
Attack and Wu Tang as it does Beenie Man and Buju Banton, he's
definitely one you should be looking out for this year
CAZALS
Rock
at its finest - the supremely talented Cazals are all in their early
20s but undeniably gifted in the time-honoured medium of rock'n'roll.
Utterly infectious songs laden with energetic electro hooks and dance
floor energy. It is no surprise that this cockney quintet, though only
a few singles into their stride, are starting to get noticed with their
slightly tugging, no frills edge. The Cazals use an 80's soft rock
approach to ensure that their forthcoming debut album doesn't go
unnoticed and, that they don’t go unseen as festival time approaches.
Wakestock will love them!

version of "Can't Stop Moving" was played on BBC Radio 1 and signed to
EMI, who own the Stateside label.
MIGUEL DEL BOSQUE The
amazing Miguel Del Bosque is a sure crowd pleaser and has been a
resident at Oxfords Republica since 2005. His lively sets always get
the party going and with the average set coming in between 125 - 145bpm
you know that you will want to dance. Clubbing is a way of life for
Miguel Del Bosque, (who isn’t nearly as Spanish as his name would
suggest) and he knows what the crowds want.
A SILENT FILM A
Silent Film are a band whose music is colossal and the vibe cinematic.
Grown from a classical/electronic root in rock and pop, this Oxford
quartet play like nothing before. With a sound that sits on a bridge
between contemporary artists and rock bands, singer songwriter Robert
Stevenson performs his story telling lyrics with unquestionable
sincerity like a boyish Nick Cave. Known for their gravity-defying
tunes and an immaculate stage-presence they are sure to go down well at
Wakestock Blenheim.
THE NEXTMEN The
Nextmen are a critically acclaimed production/songwriting group
consisting of Dom Search (aka Dominic Betmead) and Brad Baloo (aka Brad
Ellis). Often incorporating hiphop drums and electronic basslines into
their sound, they have worked with many artists from the UK, US and
Jamaica. The two members also run their own independent record label,
Custom Records, a joint venture with Fat City Records. They are both
musicians, playing guitar (Dom Search) and keys (Brad Baloo). Their
album Amongst the Madness was popular on the hip hop scene, and
included performances from MCs from the US and UK. The second album Get
Over It, released in 2003, featured such artists as American rapper
J-Live and Cutty Ranks. In June 2007, The Nextmen released their third
studio album This Was Supposed To Be The Future on Antidote Records.
The first single was "Let It Roll", featuring Alice Russell.
