WAKESTOCK BLENHEIM REACHES ITS AMAZING FINALE AND THE CHAMPIONS ARE ANNOUNCED!
Well…the first Wakestock Blenheim has come to pass and it is fair to say that it was a huge success! The sun shone and the crowds were out in force to see some of the hottest music acts around combined with the worlds best in wakeboarding action in the most stunning of locations. Those who made the trip were treated to performances from the likes of The Streets, local boys Supergrass and the superb Estelle who all brought the event to its spectacular close and having witnessed amazing performances from Mark Ronson, Groove Armada, The Happy Mondays, Funeral for Friend and many more on the Friday and Saturday. The wakeboarding also reached it dramatic finale with the Pro Men’s Final, which took place on the Sunday afternoon. The title of Wakestock Blenheim Champion 2008 went to Dan Nott who once again dazzled the crowds who had gathered down at the lake with a near perfect run that saw him go home with the trophy. He beat Cyril Cornaro into second place closely followed by Sam Carne. Swiss Mathias Kobain came in forth and in fifth place was Jonny Carne. Cyril Cornaro had a great weekend as he also went home as the winner of the Big Air Competition pulling of the best trick on the night. The women’s final was won by Argentinean Robbie Rendo who showed the rest how it was done with an amazing run. She beat Aussie Kath Moore into second place followed by Jess Hilberry. The wakeboarding location has to be one of the most desirable in the world and the riders did it justice with skills that were truly world class and showcasing the sport to the many spectators who had gathered at the water edge. The very first event of its kind at the Palace was a resounding success and for those of you who just can’t get enough we have Wakestock Abersoch this weekend, so why not do it all again!
