Relentless Wakestock Blenheim Palace Update

With just under 4 weeks to go, we thought it was high time we gave you the lowdown on what to expect from Relentless WAKESTOCK 2008 held at Blenheim Palace.
You have probably heard by now that Wakestock chose to host an additional festival this year in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, in the grounds of the stunning Blenheim Palace estate, home to the Duke of Marlborough, just 50 miles from London on Friday 27th, Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th June.
Everything is set for an awesome weekend from a festival that not only has a dazzling line up, but also loads more to look forward to! In addition to 3 stages of music with over 70 acts performing and a wakeboarding spectacle like no other you have seen before in the UK, we’ve got a crazy funfair to get the adrenaline pumping, unique stalls selling a variety of goodies, a mouth watering selection food stalls, the Vans Skateboard Mini Ramp, on site camping and loads of parking.
If you are into extreme sports then it is a weekend not to be missed. Wakestock will play host to the best riders in the world, all competing for the biggest title in Europe – Wakestock Champion! Wakeboarding is the fastest growing watersport with a laid back lifestyle that Wakestock promotes.
So if you’re going to do it properly, you’ve got to camp. It’s not every day you get to pitch your tent in the Duke of Marlborough’s back garden! It’s a stunning location, with sweeping green fields leading down to the lake edge, looking across to the stunning palace. The campsite sits in close proximity to the car park, festival site & wakeboard lake. You can camp from lunchtime on Thursday 26th right through to lunchtime on Monday 30th, so by arriving there on the Thursday you’ll get to take in the awesome surroundings, chill out on the lake edge while you catch the wakeboard practise sessions, browse some of the market stalls or get stuck in on the reverse bungee!

Friday 27th - In the morning you’ll get your first taste of the wakeboard competition with the start of the qualifiers. Now for those who aren’t familiar with the sport, it’s spectacular to say the least. The riders are towed behind the MasterCraft X-Star, arguably the best boat in the business. They stand sideways like on a snowboard and use the wake of the boat to do huge flips & spins. It’s awesome to watch & you get to sit on the banks that rise from the lake edge and watch all the action as it happens. By the time the wakeboarding finishes you can take a short walk up to the monument to join the music festival as it starts. For those of you who haven’t quite had your fill of wakeboarding action during the day the Big Air competition will take place at 6pm on Friday night on the lake. This part of the competition is really simple but really impressive to watch– each of the pro’s gets towed over the kicker on the lake and the best trick wins the cash prize.
Friday means a more dance orientated line-up … Full live performances from GROOVE ARMADA, PENDULUM, AUDIO BULLYS, HADOUKEN, ROYWORLD and DJ sets from PLUMP DJS, TROPHY TWINS, CUT COPY & NU-MARK to name just a few, will see you bounce into the night with a big smile on your face.
Saturday night is more band orientated with MARK RONSON & FRIENDS, HAPPY MONDAYS, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND, CALVIN HARRIS, MYSTERY JETS & ELLIOT MINOR heading a real assortment of top new music, and don’t forget the wakeboard pro qualifier will be taking place on the lake throughout the day.
Sunday night has a real mix of everything …. After watching the pro wakeboarders battle it out in the Wakestock final during the day, you can enjoy live performances from THE STREETS, SUPERGRASS, ESTELLE, YOUNG KNIVES, BLACK KIDS & LIGHTSPEED CHAMPION who are just a few to look out for, or if you want to bring back that dance vibe then make sure you join the legendary PETE TONG, JOSH GABRIEL & friends to party away the last night.

In amongst the great music that you can enjoy over the 3 days, we mentioned there’s the wakeboard Pro qualifier on the Saturday & the Pro Final on the Sunday to keep you engrossed each day from 10am – 2pm. There’s also the crazy set-up that is the wakeboard pool gap as part of the Vans Rococo Rail Tour – this is a huge purpose built 2 pool set up holding 200,000 gallons of water – the wakeboarders and wakeskaters will be competing on the set up over the weekend and bringing the wakeboarding right into the middle of the festival site. You’ll never get any closer to the action than this & is the only one of it’s kind in Europe that Wakestock will be showcasing.

It’s going to be a great weekend & there’s less than a month to go, so get your tickets now & get yourself ready for the coolest festival this summer.
