RELENTLESS WAKESTOCK BLENHEIM PALACE FRIDAY UPDATE

Relentless Wakestock Blenheim 2008 is now well and truly underway! The gates opened at lunchtime on Friday and the crowds had gathered to see performances from some of the best dance acts around. Belting out bangers were the legendary Groove Armada who raised the roof in the main tent, along with Aussie drum and bass act Pendulum whose set really got the capacity tent bouncing. They were joined by the likes of Hadouken, Audio Bullys who were on site to see the launch of the first ever event of its kind to take place at the Palace.
Relentless Wakestock is not just about the music, it is also Europe's largest wakeboard music festival so crowds gathered down at the lake for the all important amateur qualifiers. Seven men and three women will go through to compete in the pro competition over the weekend. Brit Steven Dyer took first place in the qualifiers pulling off some huge tricks to beat Kieran Taheny into second place. Third was James Hooper. Five other men will go through including David Coats, Freddie Carter, George Jill and Sam Weinstein. The top women's qualifier was Tor Young, followed by Joules Hayley and Ana Alvarez. All these guys will take their chances against the pros today to see who will be crowned Wakestock Blenheim Champion 2008.
Friday sure did kick off in style and the blue skies this morning meant that the thousands camping has a great first night!
Still to come is the pro competition and some amazing music from the likes of Mark Ronson, Happy Mondays, Funeral for a Friend and many more.
Single day tickets are still available to buy on the gate so get yourselves down here! You don't want to miss out.
