BLENHEIM PALACE HOTS UP - The latest info on the weekends action so far!
The sun is shining as Wakestock Blenheim 2008 opens its doors for the final day of what has been an amazing weekend of hot wakeboard action alongside some of the biggest names in the music industry in the most amazing location. Mark Ronson and his Version Players went down well with the crowds that had gathered to hear a set which included huge hits such as Valerie and Stop Me. Partying legends Happy Mondays also raised the roof in the Main Arena with a legendary set from Sean and Bez. Welsh rockers Funeral for a Friend belted out some of their biggest hits to a capacity crowd who had gathered under the stars for another night of partying. The sun shone throughout the day yesterday as the crowds arrived to enjoy the Pro Men's Qualifiers. The action was hotting up down at the lake as 2 groups battled it out to see who would go through to today's all important final. Heat 1 was won by Swiss competitor Mathias Koban, who pulled off some amazing tricks to ensure his place in today's final, he was followed in second place by Tim Woodhead. Sam Weinstein was third and Kieran Taheny came in fourth. Heat 2 was won by South African Nick Burton Moore, closely followed by Steven Dyer who came in second. John Tulley beat Hamish Lowe into fourth place. All 8 of these men will go on to compete today in the Pro Men's Final to determine who will go away will the title of Wakestock Blenheim 2008 Champion. The Women's Final took place yesterday afternoon the winner of which will be announced on the Main Stage tonight along with the Men's Final winner from today. The wakeboarding action was not confined to the lake as The Pool Gap in the music site played host to the Vans Rococo Rail Tour. 16 riders went head to head in heats to go through to the quarter finals this evening at 6pm. 8 riders went through after battling it out along the rails in the center of the site. Lee de Buse, Dan Nott, Rob Moyle, Lewis Floyd, Richie Hiney, Cyril Cornaro and Matty Crowhurst could come away as Vans Rococo Rail Tour Winner. The Pool Gap was also host to the Wakeskate Jam which was won by Kevin Calves of France. He went away a winner after an hour long battle. The best trick won. This action should not be missed and tickets are available to buy on the gate. Do not miss out on the final day of fun which will see performances from The Streets, Estelle, Supergrass alongside Pete Tong, The Black Kids, The Futureheads and many more.
