Ben Proudlove & Dash
| Ben Proudlove is no stranger to the hallowed Wakestock decks having played every year since 2008, and alongside friend and musical partner Dash since 2011. The pair recorded the awesome third Wakestock Mix Series tape so naturally we were thrilled when they agreed to take on the March 2013 effort too. Despite their relatively young age, the northern lads have achieved a considerable amount within the UK dance music scene. Both were integral promoters behind Liverpool’s much loved ‘Superfly’ which ran for a whopping 7 years. Here they showcased electronic music at its finest, hosting selectors such as The Freestylers, Duke Dumont, Koma & Bones and The Glimmer Twins.
As DJs they have played all over the UK together, solo and as part of ‘Superfly DJs’, at nights such as the world famous Chibuku Shake Shake, Sankeys, Plug and Slippery, abroad in countries like Ibiza and Italy and at festivals such as Creamfields, Isle of Wight and V. Dash has played alongside some of the greats of the dance music fraternity – Fake Blood, Popof, Justice, Simian Mobile Disco, James Lavelle and Norman Jay to name a few. Similarly, Ben has warmed up for countless world-class names from across the dance music spectrum, such as The Klaxons, Grandmaster Melle Mel, High Contrast, Erol Alkan, Digitalism, DJ Yoda and Alex Metric. Not ones to stand still they push their sound constantly. Since Ben launched his site www.benproudlove.com and his monthly sessions project in September 2011, he has picked up a new residency at super-cool London deep house night ‘Fl’eau.’ Dash has had a release called ‘Viper’ out on Utah Saint’s label, he warmed up for 2manydjs at Chibuku’s NYE party and he is currently working on a new EP with DMC Finalist DJ Rasp and Mr Who. Not only this, his alias, ‘Autocycle’ has seen him booked at Croatia’s Garden Festival and Greg Wilson’s latest mix included his track ‘Supernatural Thing.’ These two DJs have a genuine ability to play anywhere and to anyone.
