Wakestock will again host the first stop of the Rococo Rail Tour for 2009. Alliance’s huge Pool Gap holding 200,000 gallons of water will be built bang in the middle of festival site. 3 rails will be built in-between the pools and the Rococo format of PIG will continue. There will be free ride sessions each day and the 8 most impressive riders will get invited to ride against 8 pre qualified riders! The 16 wakeboarders will be drawn against each other and they have to match each others tricks on the rails until they lose their lives! It’s a very similar format to PIG. System 2.0 The massive news for 2009 and Wakestock’s tenth anniversary is that we will be using a System 2.0 cable rig instead of winches! What does this mean? Well to start with it will give all the riders a very accurate and fair pull and the change over time between the riders will much shorter. Instead of walking the rope back the System 2.0 does it all for you. This will allow for the head to head format to work even more effectively than years gone by.
Wakeskating Wakeskating Jams will be happening each evening with money up for grabs in a “best trick takes all” format. We are looking for the stand out trick in each session to dish out the cash too! The top names in the UK will be here including Taylor Dell, Terry Hannam, Liam Smith plus a Euro invasion from Kevin Calvez and Ludvio Vanoli. The skaters are getting their very own ledge style rail this year so you can expect some serious skate board style tricks going down.
Girl Jams The UK girl’s rail riding skills have blown up recently and this year we are giving them some girl only time on the pool gap. The cables all over the UK have bred a group of hardcore and stylish female wakeboarders including Steph Caller, Tor Young and Emily Beddington.
