N*E*R*D
N*E*R*D is alternative rock/ funk/ rap group which formed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States in 2001. The group consists of lead singer Pharrell Williams (vocals, keys, guitar), Chad Hugo (guitar, bass) and Shay Haley (drums). The band is best known for the songs “Rock Star”, “Everybody Nose” and “She Wants to Move”.
Williams and Hugo are also known as the Grammy-winning production duo The Neptunes. Pharrell and
Chad met at the ages of 12 at a summer camp for musicians, which they both disliked. They spent their free time making beats and performing in groups with fellow childhood friend Timbaland. Williams and Hugo met Shay Hayley in high school and began performing together. The trio often met in Hugo's garage, where he beatboxed through a "Loudspeaker" speaker system while Haley danced. After watching the duo perform at a high school talent show, Teddy Riley, a musician and producer, signed Williams and Hugo in 1992. Since then they have gone on to dominate the charts around the world with their blend of funk rock and are sure to bring an international feel to Relentless Wakestock this year.

PIGEON DETECTIVES
Formed in Leeds in 2002, the Pigeon Detectives have forged a reputation for catchy rock and roll. The five piece’s first album “Wait for me” went down a storm gaining the band a nomination for Best New Band at the 2007 Q awards. Their second album “Emergency” only enhanced their reputation for creating great fuzz filled rock. Their full of beans live shows and anthemic choruses have promoted them to Leeds number one export. SUPER FURY ANIMALS
This welsh rock band formed back in 1993 in Cardiff. There are not many commercially available songs from their first few years as they focused thier time on gigging, they did though in 1995 manage to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records though for having the longest ever title for a released song, which was Llanfairpwllgwyngyllllantysiliogogogoch a bit of a mouthful if you have difficulty speaking Welsh! After gigging around London in 1995 they were discovered by a lable who had had massive commerical success with Oasis. From this point on they had success with singles such as ‘Something 4 the Weekend’ and ‘Hometown Unicorn’ and their debut album was released named ‘Fuzzy Logic’ and they were even nominated for a mercury prize. They then went on to create albums such as ‘Radiator and ‘Out Spaced’ the albums were influenced by vocals of 1960’s bands such as The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Velvet Underground and had a mixture of glam, garage rock numbers. Their music over the years has even featured artists such as the great Sir Paul McCartney and the band have a massive range of different styles of music in Welsh and in English within the 13 albums they have created. FIGHTSTAR
A Rock band made up of 4 guys, Charlie and Alex on guitar and vocals, Dan on base and Omar on drums, Fightstar formed back in 2003 but it was in 2005 that the band shot into the public eye with Charlie leaving his current band Busted. The band began making a name for itself performing at festivals across the country and released their first single ‘They Liked You Better When You Were Dead’. Fighstar signed with US label Deep Elm to release their single stateside. Following this they went on tour, in Australia and the UK, supporting Funeral For A Friend and performed at 2006 Download Festival. Fightstar singned with Trustkill records in 2007 and continue to tour the UK, playing at various festivals throughout this summer.

ELLIOT MINOR
The York based rockers mix an amazing blend on pop rock, alternative rock and even have strong classical influences the band themselves can play over 8 instruments between them ranging form a violin to a sax. Only officially forming a few years ago in 2005 they have had major success in a short space of time getting loads of airplay with major stations like Radio 1. Alex, Ed, Dan, Ed and Ali who originally were ‘The Academy’ later changed their name to Elliot Minor, which of course stuck. In 2006 they won a competition through MySpace which was hosted by McFly and then had the opportunity to support them playing in front of over 13,000 people. Subsequent to this they were signed and went on to create and release a number of singles but didn’t have major success in chart positions until the release of their album in 2008, which reached number 6 in the album chart. The band that describe their music as symphonic rock then went on to do so shows like Jo Whiley’s Radio 1 show on the live lounge section where they covered Take That’s ‘Rule the World’ which then featured on the Live Lounge Album. CHASE & STATUS featuring Plan B, Takura & Rage
Producers of drum and bass, electronic and dubstep. Chase and Status have already scored three number one dance chart hits since debuting in 2003. New single “Against All Odds” featuring Kano is shooting up the singles chart. The duos debut album “More Than Alot” was released in 2008 entered the UK dance chart at number 2.

GOLDIE
Clifford Joseph Price aka Goldie, is a pioneer of British jungle and drum and bass. He also has dabbled in acting featuring in various films including James Bond: The World is Not Enough and Snatch. Goldie’s music takes influences from jungle, break beats, drum bass and classical. His first globally released album Timeless 1995 was one of the first commercially successful drum and bass albums since then he has continued to create original drum and bass using orchestras and vocals by various artists including David Bowie and Noel Gallagher. He also recently finished second in the BBC Maestro competition which showcased his musical talents. A world renowned DJ and music creator Goldie will no doubt delight the Wakestock faithful.

LONDON ELEKTRICITY feat MC Wrec
London Elektricity aka Tony Colman has been making and releasing music for the past twelve years and in his spare time running his Drum and Bass label Hospital Records. His new album “Syncopated City” is out now on Hospital Records.
MC Wrec is widely regarded as one of Britain’s most exciting Young artists. He has shot to fame performing as the front man of London Elektricity. His influences range from James Brown, Van
Morrison through to Roots Manuva and Finlay Quay. He also runs his own record label Mums the Word Records in his free time.

SIBRYDION
Sibrydion means whispers in Welsh and this band originally from Waunfawr just around the corner have now re-located to Cardiff to spread the word about just how good they really are. Currently attracting a huge amount of interest, this band has been compared to the Super Furry Animals in terms of both their talent and their sound. The band have travelled to the event before and we are pleased to welcome them back after proving to be hugely popular last time around.

THE JOY FORMIDABLE
Hailing from Mold, N Wales, The Joy formidable are a trio that in the early years regularly met at the now legendary Buckley Tivoli. Using gargantuan bass and guitars mixed with surreal raw drumming creates a unique live experience. The music has roots in the countryside of the Clwydian borders where they grew up and this helps create a uniquely home grown affair with the band controlling every creative aspect in their own bedrooms that doubles up as a studio and workshop. THE LITTLE COMETS
The Little Comets are a four piece from Newcastle who refer to themselves as “an entirely four sided shape” they merge warm grooves with lyrics representing the more broken parts of life. The band is influenced not by the usual clichéd rock heroes but by writers such as Roald Dahl and Seamus Heaney. To complement this they create flowing soundtracks of energy and emotion and use improvised rhythm source including kettles, sofas and other household items. SPINNERETTE
The Spinnerettes are an American punk rock band that emerged in 2007. The band was signed to Sire Records and released a demo song, ‘Case of the Swirls’, on their website. In August 2008 the band announced on their website www.spinnerettemusic.com that fans could now hear their first song, Valium Knights, that would feature on the upcoming album. RUTH KEALY
Ruth Kealy is the undiscovered singer/songwriter from North Wales that everyone is talking about. Originally from New Zealand, this 20 year old Kiwi captures people with her addictive pop songs and alluring voice. With catchy lyrics and massive choruses influenced by the likes of Sheryl Crow and The Killers she can both charm and rock audiences from the stage. It won’t be long before her undiscovered title will be lost, with a solid list of festival appearances filling her Summer 09 calendar. THE GALLOPS
This four-piece band from Wrexham will bring their electronic post rock style to Wakestock this year. The band, who are fresh from Radio 1’s Big Weekend are going from strength to strength. Huw Stephens has described them as “Phenomenal” and they are most definitely ones to watch!

CHEW LIPS
Chew Lips formed in the Spring of 2008. The London based band in made up of three people. Dominating the stage is lead vocalist Tigs, While Will and James get creative on the drum machine and creating a great sound on pretty much any instrument they can lay their hands on. Producing 10 songs in their first rehearsal together they played their first gig on May 10th 2008. Since then they have performed gigs at various hipster clubs across London and Paris and are due to perform at a number of festivals across the UK this summer. HAUNTS
The Haunts are a band that delivers a dark and brooding manifesto with a stylish stomp and swagger that wouldn’t be out of place in swinging London. Raised on a diet of Bowie, Prince and Talking Heads, Haunts cut their influences with a sharp punk edge. Their self-titled debut depicts a world between the cinematic vision of Tim Burton and a doomed London skyline, a night-time town where heavyweight new-wave strutting underpins tales of hit-men, harlots and heart-attacks. Not content with making a masterful album, Haunts have been doing a number of remixes for The Enemy, CSS, White Lies, Snow Patrol and many more. GUTTERFUNK DJS
Between running Manchester's Gutterfunk club night, producing and releasing their own music and setting up the hugely successful NWDNB.co.uk web community, Poi and Affray (Gareth Morris and Joseph Wood) have clocked up a massive amount of performances at events across Britain, Europe and even as far as Africa. In a musical career spanning over ten years the pair have shared the decks with some of the biggest players in drum and bass including names such as DJ Hype, Pendulum, John B, Commix, Ed Rush & Optical, Shy FX, and Marcus Intalex. Relying on a versatile and open-minded selection style all the way from deep, rolling dub and liquid funk right through to tough tech-step and heavy amen breaks you can rest assured that this duo have got all the right tools to deliver what is required on the dancefloor.

ALED MANN
Aled Mann is one of the hottest properties from the UK's underground Trance scene. Merging a unique blend of progressive Trance through to tougher more energetic and uplifting trance, he has quickly become a crowd favourite. In 2005 Aled made his debut for 3 of the UK's biggest club nights - Promise, Passion and Gatecrasher. Following his debut for Gatecrasher, Matt Hardwick nominated the set as the Best Warm Up Set in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll. This is an accolade Aled still holds extremely highly and since then he has played regularly at the UK's top venues and is widely recognised as one of the best up and coming DJ's in the country. Over the past 7 years Aled has worked hard to establish himself as a star of the future. With many exciting productions already under his belt and many exciting solo projects and collaborations lined up for 2008 and beyond, he has paved the way to a promising future.













MANIPULATE DJS
The Manipulate Dj’s banner encompasses the sounds of North Wales based DJ’s and promoters. Jonh Scudamore is the founder and resident DJ at the long established dance event in North Wales. John and his partner Rich Williams have played alongside some of the worlds biggest spinners including Paul Woolford, Ralph Lawson, Yousef, Lottie, Funk D Void, Justin Robertson, Billy Nasty, Meat Katie, Graeme Park, Hybrid, X Press 2 and MR C. Each of these acts have all graced the manipulate turn tables in the past. Manipulate DJ’s know how to get a party started.

JAMES CONDON
Since James broke into the Hard Dance scene in 2004 with a debut set for Wildchild, he has been one of the most talked-about newcomers in the game. Citing Eddie Halliwell and Alex Kidd as key influences, James’s exciting and involving sets cover the whole hard dance spectrum. After his break with Wildchild, James was fast established as one of most exciting nu-breed DJs around, with bookings for club tours from hard dance giants Goodgreef, Slinky and Sundissential all following within the next year along with a trip to North Wales to play Relentless Wakestock 2009.
