DAY 2 - BIG CROWDS, BLUE SKIES, EPIC WAKEBOARDING & ONE MASSIVE PARTY!
Some serious bouncing took hold across the entire Relentless Wakestock arena this evening as the three stages experienced a barrage of party fused sell-out crowds. The atmosphere that the Wakestock festival masses created was momentous; chilled moments on the still very green grass, watching the sun set across Cardigan Bay mixed with euphoric choruses of an audience in outstanding voice, singing out to Plan B, Feeder & Maximo Park and of course, not to mention an ecstatic frenzy of packed out crowds bouncing in unison to unforgettable performances from Zane Lowe, Tinie Tempah and Chase & Status.

Earlier in the day, the action was very much down at Pwllheli Marina where the thousands of spectators lining the water’s edge of the wakeboard arena watched the ‘out of this world’ wakeboarding action, as they paid witness to the sports’ best going all out for the 10 places available for Sunday’s final. With a who’s who list of international wakeboarding this was an all out war to handle the intense pressure, wrestle with the Relentless Leviathan and take on the 16 foot high roof top rail, never mind the world class riders from the UK who were all hungry to make it through to the prestigious final day.

This year the entire Nation got a taste of the wakeboarding goodness with Radio 1’s Huw Stephens broadcasting live from a boat floating in the middle of the wakeboarding arena as the drama unfolded on the water. The Girls Finals got the action underway and US Pro Tour Champion Nicola Butler was the first to get the crowd cheering for more as she bashed out a great mix of tech moves. National Ozzy Champ Amber Wing then cranked it up a notch, taming the rails once again and knocking out tricks such as a Moby Dick and Whirly Bird along with an outstanding assortment of solid grabs, spins and flips.

With so many big name riders from the UK and abroad, Relentless Wakestock 2010 was definitely the most ‘international’ it has been since it began. Randall Harris had made the trip from the West Coast of the USA and he absolutely tore the course apart with his unmistakable style. Having been bitten by the Wakestock bug a few years ago Australia’s Dean Smith dominated his group to move through. Another top American rider Andrew Adkison touched down into the UK this morning and after 40 hours in transit, still came up with the goods to make Sunday’s finals. The out and out winning performance which literally blew everyone away came from the last rider of the day, current WWA Wakeboard World Series Champion, Phillip Soven, dropping a Toeside 720 straight out the blocks, G-Spot and Whirly 5 right at the end of his run clearing out any chance of another rider taking the heat victory.

It’s the coveted Finals tomorrow, starting at Midday at Pwllheli Marina and then on to the festival site for a big closing night with acts like Robyn, The Futureheads, Pete Tong & The Ting Tings and of course the prize giving worth nearly $30,000 for the crowning Relentless Wakestock Champions.
