RELENTLESS WAKESTOCK ABERSOCH - FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE

Relentless Wakestock Abersoch 2008 has kicked off in style for its eighth year up at the Penrhos site. The weather just about held off for most of the evening and the sun kept making the occasional appearance as thousands of happy campers arrived to pitch tents and settle in ready to enjoy performances from the best in the music business along with action from some of the worlds best wakeboarders. The Vans Rococo Rail Tour returned for the third year bringing live wakeboard action to the festival site.
The music site opened at 3pm and the crowds filled the stunning festival site to witness the likes of legends Groove Armada, Pendulum, Hadouken, Sam Sparro, Audio Bullies and many more belt out their hits into the early hours. The ground was thumping and the crowds were jumping as Wakestock 2008 welcomed the loyal fans back to the site in style with more on offer than ever before.
Friday morning saw the amateur qualifiers battling it out down at Pwllheli Marina for a chance to go through to the pro competition over the weekend. Top place in the men’s qualifiers went to David Coat who pulled off a great run to secure his place in the pro competition. He was closely followed by George Newell who beat Oliver Ross into third place. 7 out the men made it through including Andy Harris, James Chappel, Solid Jim, James Walker, david Coat, George Newell and Oliver Ross will go on to compete in today.
Down on Abersoch Main Beach many had made their way onto the sand to see a test of style and brawn in the Big Air Competition. The rules are simple, one kicker and the best trick wins. The winner will be announced on stage on Sunday night winners ceremony.
