Pigeon Detectives, Just Jack, DJ Format, Goldie, London Elektricity Added To The Bill
There are still plenty more addtiions to come, but the next batch of acts have been added to the line-up for 2009 including Leeds rockers THE PIGEON DETECTIVES, a real festival favourite after singles such as “Emergency” and “Wait for Me” which gained them a nomination for best new band at the 2007 Q awards and propelled them to stardom. Their second album “Emergency” only enhanced their reputation for creating great fuzz filled rock. Their energetic live shoes and anthemic choruses have promoted them to be called a band of “Indie pop perfection” by NME - check out the single “Everybody wants me”
JUST JACK is best known for his 2007 single “Starz in their Eyes” which reached number 2 in the UK Charts. But his next single ‘Embers’ is receiving serious air time on all radio stations. A self styled “Urban Poet” Just Jack blends hip-hop, samples, dance and pop into one. He started DJing at the tender age of fifteen having been brought up on a diet of dance music. His new album All Night Cinema is due to be released in May 2009.
DJ FORMAT hails from Brighton and is one of best Hip-hop DJs in the country. Starting out as a bus driver for Jurassic Five and he also opened DJ Shadows tour in 2002. His album “If You Can’t Join ‘Em.... Beat ‘Em” was voted as one of the top 100 hundred albums of 2005.He is inspired and influenced by 80’s and early 90’s hip-hop, James Brown, funk and jazz. Recently he has teamed up with The Soulsavers to make “Kings of Rock” a mixture of late 60's & early 70's rock and psych.
GOLDIE, is a pioneer of British jungle and drum and bass. He also has dabbled in acting featuring in various films including James Bond: The World is Not Enough and Snatch. Goldie’s music takes influences from jungle, break beats, drum bass and classical. His first globally released album Timeless 1995 was one of the first commercially successful drum and bass albums since then he has continued to create original drum and bass using orchestras and vocals by various artists including David Bowie and Noel Gallagher. He also recently finished second in the BBC Maestro competition which showcased his musical talents.
LONDON ELEKTRICITY has been making and releasing music for the past twelve years and in his spare time running his Drum and Bass label Hospital Records. His new album “Syncopated City” is out now on the same said record label. He will be joined by MC WREC; widely regarded as one of the most exciting young Brittish artists. He has shot to fame performing as the front man of London Elektricity. His influences range from James Brown, Van Morrison through to Roots Manuva and Finlay Quay. He also runs his own record label Mums the Word Records in his free time.
