THE PETH CONFIRM INCLUDING RHYS IFANS & SFA’s DAFYDD IEUAN
We’re very pleased to announce that we have just confirmed a UK exclusive for Welsh band phenomenon THE PETH. This of course features DAFYDD IEUAN of the Super Furry Animals and actor/singer legend RHYS IFANS.
Ifans was the original vocalist in Super Furry Animals prior to departing the band to focus on his acting career. As everyone know’s this has been a seriously successful career to date with films like Notting Hill, Enduring Love, Hannibal Rising, Kevin & Perry Go Large and the soon to be released, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.
In 2006 The Peth was formed as an excuse to get band members together and spend time in the studio to record their first album together ‘The Golden Mile’. Recorded sporadically over a two year period, the album tells of locations, characters and personal tales in a mile long stretch between the studio and the Grangetown area of Cardiff. According to Ifans, everything needed to ‘sustain’ the recording was available on this stretch of road he dubbed The Golden Mile!
‘The Golden Mile’ features ten tracks that range broadly between retro psychedelic pop and muscular stoner rock with titles including ‘Stonefinger’, ‘Shoot on Sight (Flock of Zeigheils)’, ‘Turbotank’ and ’69 Fanny Street’.
I think we’re going to have some fun on Sunday when they play, just before the RAF Falcons drop in with their 11 man parachute display, right infront of the main stage!
“A ferocious collision of Oasis-style singalongs coupled with the quirky electronics of Super Furry Animals. A does of Happy Mondays’ low-slung funk completes the picture… Ifans rocks” – The Sun
